Welcome to the 2012 Tanzania Expedition.
While we are in Tanzania, we will be teaching the Matipwili kids how to use the OLPC XO computer. 32 have been purchased and there will be kept in the Resource Centre we are constructing. Both PLC and Scotch now have one of the XO's each and we will have plenty of time to become familiar with them.

Updated Itinerary and Gear List: Expedition Essentials
August 3rd 2011
The final arrangements are being made for bookings in Tanzania. There are two significant changes from the Itinerary in 2010. The first is that we will be staying at the Protea Hotel in Dar es Salaam. This hotel is along the coast - a little further out of town than the Peacock - where we have stayed during the past three trips. it has more space around it and it should be easier for us to maneuver the vehicles for loading. It also has an outdoor pool in a beautiful setting.
The second change is that we will be flying back to Dar from Moshi (Kili airport). This flight is just over one hour and will enable us to spend more time in both Moshi and Dar. While the bus trips of the past trips were good (in luxury coaches), flying will hopefully deliver us to Dar fresher and allow a little relaxation time around the pool.
Emirates will not accept our bookings until next week - 11 months from our return flight. Our travel agent is poised to book as soon as possible.
Fundraising at Scotch will kick off with a 'sausage sizzle' at lunchtime on September 7th. There will also be a little money coming from the Year 10 River Cruise. The meeting of the expedition group at Scotch on September 5th (week 7) will no doubt come up with other ideas.
