Gun Ownership Review

What are your views on gun ownership?

I believe that farms and the authority should only be able to have a gun license because farmers have animals eating their life stock and this is bad for their income. The authority should have them because they need to be able to protect themselves form the people who abuse them.

Is there any reason why you have these views? Have you been influenced by anyone or by an event?

Yes I live on a farm and I know how to shot the weapon for the right purposes this is why farmers should be allowed to have a gun licence for the right purposes. Other people like city and town folk should not because they are surrounded by the authorities and are protected form people that abuse others for no reason.

Has the media influenced your views on gun ownership?

The TV has also influenced me with the reasons I have got and the authority should have weapons like pistols to protect themselves from the people who like to hurt the police. The news has a lot of this stuff that’s shows people abusing others with weapons and these people should not be able to have a gun ownership

Having read some reviews on Bowling for Columbine, what do you think the movie is about?

I think the movie will be about guns and killing towards different types of standards to do with leadership and who is more powerful and who gets to live and who doesn’t.

Do you believe that you will be watching something that is fair and balanced? Why?

No because it will not be fair towards the people at the school to what I have read form the articles and they will have no defence to protect themselves form getting killed, I have watched a short part of the movie and a teen gets shot because he is black (racism) and this shows how the movie is not fair.

Advertising Images and Reviews

Describe the visual construction of this advertisement in your own words. Be as descriptive as possible.

The man is above the women showing the audience that he is more powerful and that she is his slave to the men. The women is kneeling down by the bed and giving him the food to say that the wives are slaves to the hard working men, this shows that he is a hard working man because there are ties around the room and also that he is wearing one.

Describe the feeling men are meant to have while viewing this ad (1-2 sentences).

The man is smiling and has his hands behind his head too show that he is happy of his work and happy to be above the women so every wife is a slave to the men, this what the ad is showing us and as the ad says “show her it’s a mans world” and this is telling us the men are more of a leader than women.

Now describe how you think women are meant to feel when looking at this ad (1-2 sentences).

They will probably feel down on themselves and angry so they won’t to then fight back the men and tell them that it’s a girl’s world, not a men’s world. This will make them won’t to give something back to the world and see it from their views not ours.

In what decade do you think this ad was made? What clues does the ad give you to help figure this out?

I think the ad was made in the 60’s or 70’s because it gives a good look at what the people dressed like back then and the way they put their hair for example the girl has it curled up a at the back and no one has their hair like that anymore, it is no longer a popular hair style for our generation.

In your opinion, is this advertisement successful in getting your attention? Is it successful in selling the product?

I think it is successful ad for older men because it’s funny when they read and then also if it catches their eye form the bold writing then it will make them also look a the ties and making them buy it making this ad a successful ad.

Describe the visual construction of this advertisement in your own words. Be as descriptive as possible.

The two naked men are down on the ground looking like dogs and pretending to be pets to the women, you can not see there facial expressions on this photo because the faces are out of the picture to do with both the girl and the boys. The women is holding to leashes that are around the men’s neck and she’s walking somewhere showing off her new clothes which the brand is called voodoo that she is trying to get people to buy.

Describe the feeling men are meant to have while viewing this ad (1-2 sentences).

They will probably think that this is very unrealistic to do with the men pretending to be dogs and that maybe they will think they might buy clothes for their wives from this brand. They will feel a bit down and sad and try to become more of a man around their women.

Now describe how you think women are meant to feel when looking at this ad (1-2 sentences).

They will feel really happy to be better than the men because men are usually dominated the women in everything, like sport. They might even think this is funny that the girl is taming the men and leading them into buying the product.

In what decade do you think this ad was made? What clues does the ad give you to help figure this out?

The 21st century because it has better imagery to do with today life and those clothes is really our kind of lifestyle in this new world. The picture before doesn’t look anything like what we would have now today because the today is very new and high tech.

In your opinion, is this advertisement successful in getting your attention? Is it successful in selling the product?

No I don’t really think it will make me buy the product because I don’t wear girl clothes and that it is also for an older age to be wearing these clothes.

Letter to Ms Bowman

Dear Ms Bowman

My name is Blake Ryan and I am a boarder in keys house. I live in the country, in a town called Wyalkatchem north east of Perth about 2 to 3 hours drive. I also live on a farm north of the town and help my dad on the holidays. We are a cropping and sheep-raising farm. I have a family of 5, there is my father Anthony, mother Therese, brother Leigh and my sister Emily.

The things I like to do on the farm is to ride on my motorbikes and help my dad on the farm with the sheep and driving machinery like when it is harvesting or seeding time. The biggest thing I like to do is to play Football on the weekend and with my friends, I go for the West Coast Eagles. The movies and TV shows I like to watch are The Harry Potter series, Hangover 1 and 2, Wild Boy, the X Factor, the Simpsons and Family Guy on TV.

I feel great to be in a new English class with a new teacher and I have a good feeling it is going to be a happy and successful year in year 10. I hope I learn a lot more things and get a better grade at English this year with you. I feel really proud of where I am at Scotch College and I hope I never leave this school for any bad reasons, I am so grateful for my to my parents that they sent me here for a better education. There is nothing you need to know about me, I’m sure I won’t cause too much trouble in your classes and I hope not to.

From Blake Ryan

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

Harry has been burdened with a dark, dangerous and seemingly impossible task: that of locating and destroyingVoldemort’s remaining Horcruxes. Never has Harry felt so alone, or faced a future so full of shadows. But Harry must somehow find within himself the strength to complete the task he has been given. He must leave the warmth, safety and companionship of The Burrow and follow without fear or hesitation the inexorable path laid out for him.

In this final, seventh instalment of theHarry Potter series, J. K. Rowling unveils in spectacular fashion the answers to the many questions that have been so eagerly awaited. The spellbinding, richly woven narrative, which plunges, twists and turns at a breathtaking pace, confirms the author as a mistress of storytelling, whose books will be read, reread and read again.
